Olubadan Appoints Former NUJ Chairman as Chief Press Secretary

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Akinloye Owolabi Ige Olakunlehin I, has appointed Olugbemiga Solomon Ayoade, a former Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), as his Chief Press Secretary.

The appointment was officially communicated in a letter dated August 29, 2024, signed by Prince Olasunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin on behalf of the newly crowned paramount ruler of Ibadanland.

Olugbemiga Ayoade, hailing from the Taiwo Ariyibi Dynasty of E8/215, Eleruko compound, Oke Ofa Baba Isale, Ibadan, holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from Ibadan Polytechnic, a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology (1989), and a Master’s in Sociology (1995) from the University of Ibadan. He retired from the Oyo State Civil Service after serving as Director of Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilization in the Oyo State Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism.

Throughout his career, Ayoade has held significant roles within the NUJ, including Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-Chairman, and Chairman of the Oyo State NUJ Chapter. On a national level, he was a member of the 7-man committee on Insurance Policy for journalists in Nigeria and currently serves as the Chairman of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee of the Oyo State NUJ.

Oba Olakunlehin I has tasked his new Chief Press Secretary with advancing the unity and progress of Ibadanland in his new role.
