The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State Council has praised Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), for his transformative impact on tax administration during his first year in office.

In a statement signed by Council Chairman Chief Ademola Babalola, the NUJ extended its heartfelt congratulations to Adedeji for his significant achievements over the past 365 days.

Babalola highlighted the introduction of an online self-service portal for taxpayers, which has modernized access to tax services, and commended the strategic optimization of the Tax Administration System, which has improved efficiency and transparency.

Babalola noted that over 200,000 new taxpayers have voluntarily registered, demonstrating public confidence in Adedeji’s leadership. The record revenue growth of N17.48 trillion, a 144 percent increase within the last year, further underscores the effectiveness of his initiatives.

Acknowledging Adedeji’s prior experience as Oyo State’s Commissioner of Finance, Babalola emphasized the importance of enhanced revenue for infrastructure development, education, and health services in Nigeria.

He commended Adedeji’s work ethic and commitment to restructuring FIRS, introducing innovative tax collection methods, and improving employee welfare.

The NUJ expressed confidence that under Adedeji’s guidance, FIRS will continue to excel and inspire future leaders. Babalola concluded with congratulations, affirming pride in Adedeji as an ambassador of Oyo State at the federal level.
