Alhaji Bayo Titilola-Sodo, the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Labour Matters, has lauded the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) under the leadership of Comrade Ademola Babalola for its constructive criticism and significant contributions to the growth of the state.
Titilola-Sodo made the remarks on Tuesday while hosting NUJ members to an Iftar (fast-breaking) event at his residence in Ibadan. He expressed gratitude for the union’s role in the state’s development, highlighting its commitment to pushing for progress while offering feedback that helps guide the administration.
A former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and former President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Oyo State, Titilola-Sodo praised the leadership of Comrade Babalola, whose tenure will conclude later this year. He promised that the state government would continue to support the union, acknowledging the collective efforts in making Oyo State a better place.
The governor’s aide reiterated that Makinde’s administration would remain focused on delivering a forward-thinking government aimed at securing a brighter future for the people of Oyo State. He called on citizens to continue supporting the administration and emphasized that the state’s progress depends on their cooperation.
Titilola-Sodo also commended the media for their steadfast support, urging them to engage in constructive criticism. He acknowledged that while it is impossible to satisfy everyone, the government values input that is geared toward improvement.
“NUJ is a dynamic and versatile union that has been instrumental in shaping our democracy,” he said. “We appreciate your role in promoting the administration’s achievements and holding us accountable through your constructive criticism.”
Earlier, Comrade Ademola Babalola, the NUJ Chairman, expressed gratitude to Titilola-Sodo for his unwavering support to the union. He described Titilola-Sodo as a dedicated unionist and partner, noting his consistent contributions to the betterment of the state throughout his career.
