NOA National Director Cautions Students Against Excessive “Sign-Out” Celebrations

Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State – August 28, 2025

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has cautioned students across Oyo State against excessive “sign-out” celebrations, describing the trend as a threat to moral and academic development.

Mrs. Ayisola Olowoyo, NOA’s Director of Human Resources Management, who represented the Director-General of the agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, gave the warning during a sensitization programme in Ibadan on Thursday.

Speaking on Amuludun 99.1 FM, Moniya, Mrs. Olowoyo said the practice of extravagant celebrations among students in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions was becoming worrisome.

“Our children are the leaders of tomorrow. Every act, every decision, every choice they make today shapes the future of our society. They need proper guidance and value re-orientation as prerequisites to becoming responsible, disciplined, and patriotic citizens,” she said.

She stressed that ethical education must begin early and be reinforced consistently at home, in schools, and within communities to prevent young people from embracing harmful behaviour.

The NOA director also highlighted the agency’s National Values Charter and the “7 for 7” framework, which emphasizes reciprocal commitments between citizens and the government. According to her, the initiative provides a roadmap for ethical conduct, civic responsibility, and national development.

“The 7 for 7 is not just a policy. It is a roadmap for accountability, integrity, and respect. By embracing these commitments, our youths can learn responsibility and contribute meaningfully to the growth of our nation,” she added.

Mrs. Olowoyo further commended the media for its role in promoting civic and moral education, noting that NOA Oyo State would continue to use media platforms to raise awareness about national values, civic duties, and responsible citizenship.

She urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to work together in guiding young people, protecting their potential, and preparing them to become future leaders Nigeria can be proud of.

Mrs. Olowoyo was accompanied on the sensitization visit by Mr. Tope Adewumi, Deputy Director HRM Abuja; Miss Abidemi Adewale, Oyo State Deputy Director on Community Safety Awareness and Compliance; and Miss Olaosebikan Oyindamola, Media and Communication Officer
