Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Member representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has condemned the reported abduction of two staff members and another resident at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Idi-Ayunre, on Thursday, 8 October 2026.

The lawmaker expressed deep concern over the incident and solidarity with the victims’ families, CRIN management and staff, and the affected community.

“My heart goes out to the victims and their families. No resident should live in fear of being abducted while working or going about their daily activities. Their safe return must be our immediate priority,” she stated.

Akande-Sadipe recalled that she had previously moved a motion on the floor of the House of Representatives drawing attention to insecurity in Oluyole and seeking urgent intervention.

“When I raised these concerns on the floor of the House, publications attributed to the current Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, suggested that I was exaggerating the situation. Months later, we are again confronted with a distressing abduction within our constituency.

“I take no satisfaction in seeing those concerns borne out. These are human lives, families in anguish and communities living in fear. Security concerns raised by an elected representative deserve serious attention, regardless of political differences. Dismissing them does nothing to protect our people,” she said.

The lawmaker urged the Oyo State Police Command and other relevant security agencies to intensify coordinated rescue efforts, protect the victims’ lives and bring the perpetrators to justice.

She also called for stronger security around CRIN and adjoining communities, emphasising the need for sustained intelligence gathering, patrols and cooperation among security agencies, institutional management and community leaders.

“The responsibility before all of us is clear: secure the safe return of those abducted and take concrete steps to prevent further attacks. Every level of government must play its part. The people of Oluyole deserve protection, responsive leadership and action,” she added.

Akande-Sadipe appealed to residents to remain vigilant, provide credible information directly to security agencies and avoid circulating sensitive information that could compromise rescue operations.

“As your representative, I will continue to speak up for the safety and welfare of our people and pursue the necessary interventions through the National Assembly. My thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and their families as we hope for their safe return,” she concluded.
