The Oyo State Government has clarified that Community Primary School, Farm Settlement, Ido, in Ido Local Government Area, was relocated to a model school with better facilities in 2019, contrary to claims circulating in a viral video that the government converted the school into a poultry farm.

Speaking during an inspection of the school, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Intervention, Oloye Suraj Abiodun Tiamiyu, said inquiries revealed that the pupils and teachers had been moved to the model school at Idi-igbaro since 2019.

“On making enquiries, we discovered that the school had been relocated since 2019 to a model school with better facilities,” he said.

He explained that the old school structure had remained abandoned for years, allowing some young farmers to take advantage of the situation by using the premises to store animal feeds and keep livestock.

“The old structure has been abandoned for years, and some young people who are farmers have taken advantage of the situation to use the premises for storing animal feeds and keeping livestock,” Tiamiyu stated.

He, however, stressed that the building remained a government-owned public property and that the individuals involved were not authorised to use it for storage.

“The building remains a public property belonging to the government, and nobody is allowed to use it for storage without authorisation. All necessary action will be taken to address the situation,” he said.
