Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the appointment of four officials to key positions in the state’s power, road infrastructure, airport and transportation sectors.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday evening by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Yinka Oyebode.
The development came hours after Oyebanji swore in the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, and the Chief of Staff, Oyeniyi Adebayo.
Oyebode listed the new appointees as Philip Atere, Technical Adviser on Power Infrastructure; Tope Fatukasi, Technical Adviser on Road Infrastructure; retired Air Vice Marshal Sunday Makinde, Technical Adviser on Airport; and Tajudeen Alingbolu, Director-General of the Ekiti State Transport Agency.
The statement said, “The appointments, which take immediate effect, are informed by the strategic importance of the respective agencies to the administration’s development agenda.”
Oyebanji charged the appointees to deploy the experience they gained during his first term to discharge their responsibilities without delay.
The governor also warned Adubiaro and Adebayo against complacency following their reappointment, saying their return to office placed greater responsibilities on them to serve the government and the people of Ekiti State.
He urged them to avoid becoming overconfident or too comfortable in their positions, stressing that his administration’s second term required greater diligence, discipline and accountability.
Oyebanji described the SSG and Chief of Staff as “steady hands who had served creditably as foundation appointees since he assumed office four years ago,” saying, “This reappointment is, therefore, proof that the reward for good work is more work. But I will be dishonest if I do not acknowledge that there are areas in need of improvement.
“You, therefore, have no reason to grope around. The burden that comes with this, however, is that I will be less tolerant of lapses than I was in the first administration because you cannot claim inexperience again,” Oyebanji had said.
