Olubadan’s Reign Was Symbol of Divine Destiny — Oloye Jumoke Akinjide Mourns Late Monarch

Former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakuleyin, describing his reign as a reflection of divine will and purpose.

In a heartfelt condolence message made available to the press in Ibadan on Monday, Oloye Akinjide paid glowing tribute to the revered monarch, whose brief but impactful reign she said left a legacy that would forever be etched in the history of Ibadanland.

“For Baba to have ascended the throne in his hoary years, yet full of accomplishments, is a testament to a divine will on human destiny which no mortal can alter,” she stated. “His peaceful and impactful reign within a short period will forever remain evergreen in our memory.”

Oloye Akinjide also drew symbolic attention to the date of Oba Olakuleyin’s passing — July 7th — noting its spiritual significance.

“His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan, joining his ancestors on the 7th day of the 7th calendar month is significant. Figure 7 is both symbolic and mystical and stands for perfection,” she noted.

Describing the late monarch as a personal father figure and advisor, Akinjide expressed her grief over the loss, stating that his demise left a void in her heart and in the hearts of many who respected and admired his wisdom and leadership.

“I will personally miss the Monarch, who was a father figure and advisor. It grieves my heart that he passed on, but I take solace in the fact that he has made a remarkable mark as a king,” she added.

She concluded the message with prayers for the repose of the monarch’s soul:
“May Almighty God forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in peace.”
