Fulfilling the Governor’s Pledge: 1533 LAUTECH Students to Begin Classes at Iseyin Campus in October 2023

Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to relocating 1533 200-level students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso to the Iseyin Campus is coming to fruition by the end of October. The promise was made during the recent commissioning of the Iseyin campus.

According to a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources will kick off its second semester in Iseyin on October 23, 2023. This marks a significant step forward since the announcement in April 2023 about the relocation of the Agriculture Faculty to Iseyin.

The Commissioner highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, led by Prof. Saliu Adelabu, in collaboration with Pro-Chancellor Prof. Deji Omole and Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rasaq Olatunde Kalilu, to ensure the realization of the students’ resumption.

The recent conclusion of the first semester on October 3, 2023, sets the stage for the 200-level students to commence formal lectures in Iseyin. Stakeholders, including community leaders, have pledged support for the students’ arrival, with agreements on affordable accommodation, transportation, and security measures.

In anticipation of the resumption, lecturers without immediate accommodation in Iseyin are making arrangements to commute from their Ogbomoso base daily. The newly constructed 76km Ogbomoso-Iseyin road facilitates a convenient 55-minute drive, further supporting the seamless transition.
