The Oyo state Director of NOA, Dr Olukemi Afolayan, usually prefers a quiet celebration for her birthday. However, her office has been flooded with birthday wishes, gifts, greeting cards, and keepsakes from her staff, NGOs, professional bodies, and other stakeholders who want to celebrate her virtues.
In a message sent to the media, the Head of Media and Publicity of Oyo state NOA, Isiaka-Adeniyi, revealed that many well-wishers and admirers have been sending gifts to her office in preparation for her birthday surprise on Thursday, 23rd of November.
Dr Olukemi Afolayan, known for her modesty and concern for the needy, does not usually celebrate her birthday with much fanfare. She will be marking it in absentia as she is currently on an AUPCTRE assignment in Ekiti State.
One of the custom-made cards sent on behalf of field officers of the local governments expressed their admiration for Dr Afolayan’s leadership and dedication. They congratulated her and wished her a happy birthday.
Dr Afolayan took on the role of acting State Director of NOA in September this year. She has served the agency in various capacities and is now the State Director.
Dr Afolayan is an activist, feminist scholar, and advocate for a united and prosperous Nigeria. She is married with children and is a member of various professional bodies.
