Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has passed away.
Reports indicate that Akeredolu died in Lagos on a Wednesday.
He was 67 years old at the time of his passing.
State House doctors attended to him until his death, as it was not possible to transfer him abroad for treatment.
Efforts were made last week to secure dialysis machines for him at a concealed location in Lagos.
Akeredolu had returned to Nigeria in September after spending three months on medical leave in Germany.
More recently, he had to take another leave for medical reasons, following instructions from President Bola Tinubu to delegate his duties to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Since then, Aiyedatiwa has been serving as the acting governor.
