Legal luminary, Niyi Akintola Installed as Asiwaju of Ido land
In a landmark event at the Ido Local Government Secretariat in Oyo State, the Traditional Council bestowed the prestigious title of Asiwaju of Ido land upon Chief Adeniyi Akintola, a distinguished legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The installation ceremony, attended by eminent personalities including Chief Akintola’s wife, Justice Rachel Akintola, witnessed the convergence of influential figures such as Alhaja Ololade Agboola, former Oyo State Head of Service, Dotun Oyelade, Oyo State Commissioner for Information, and Sheriff Adeojo, Chairman of Ido Local Government.
Expressing his gratitude, Chief Akintola deemed the occasion unprecedented, highlighting that it marked the first instance where all monarchs in Ido local government jointly endorsed an individual for a chieftaincy title.
He emphasized the significance of transcending political affiliations, declaring, “I’m not Asiwaju of PDP or APC, I’m for everybody.”
This sentiment reflected his contemplation about a potential departure from politics in light of his new role.
While acknowledging the substantial challenges facing Ido, including insecurity and infrastructural development, Chief Akintola pledged to channel his efforts towards improving the lives of the people in the local government.
