NOA Director General will Champions Youth Reorientation and National Development in Nigeria
Malam Lanre Musa Onilu, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has reaffirmed his commitment to reorienting the Nigerian youth, who make up over 72% of the country’s population.
He expressed this dedication during a media address at the State headquarters of the NOA in Agodi, Ibadan on Tuesday, January 30th, during his working visit to Oyo State.
The DG emphasized the importance of changing the beliefs and perceptions of Nigerian youth regarding their nation and where they invest their power and strength.
He highlighted how the youth spend significant amounts of money on unproductive ventures like BB Niger, as well as harmful drugs such as Colorado etc.
He stressed the need for the NOA to sensitize and educate the youth and the general public on how to be responsible citizens of Nigeria.
According to the DG, the development of a nation depends on the active participation of its citizens.
He explained that just as developed countries involve their citizens in national development, Nigeria should also emphasize the role every Nigerian has to play in achieving desired development.
The promotion of important values that should be shared between citizens and the government is a priority for the NOA.
The DG stated that Nigeria has seven legs and therefore expects seven promises in return, as the integration of these values is vital to the nation’s progress.
To further engage the youth and promote their growth, the NOA DG revealed plans to launch a reality show that would be both profitable for the youth and beneficial for the nation.
During his visit, the DG also took the opportunity to console the families of the victims affected by the blast in Bodija. He expressed his sympathy to the Oyo State government and its people, affirming the Federal Government’s concerns about the incident.
Additionally, he paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Moshud Lekan Balogun, to discuss the unfortunate event that occurred a few weeks ago and to pay homage to the Ibadan monarch
Towards the end of his address, the DG appealed to journalists across the country to report positive stories about Nigeria.
He emphasized that there is no other place called home for Nigerians, and it is therefore important to highlight the positive aspects of their nation.
