Oyo NOA Director Celebrates Workers on May Day, Calls for Stronger Commitment to Duty
The Oyo State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Ajolayo Sinmiat Akande, has congratulated Nigerian workers, particularly those in Oyo State, on the occasion of the 2026 International Workers’ Day, urging them to sustain their commitment to duty and professionalism.
In a statement personally signed and released to journalists in Ibadan on Friday, Mrs. Akande commended workers in the state for maintaining a cordial relationship with the government, describing it as a key factor behind the state’s steady growth and productivity.
She noted that the harmonious partnership between labour and the administration of Governor Oluseyi Makinde has contributed significantly to the state’s economic stability, especially through improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The NOA director also praised labour unions for exercising restraint and responsibility by avoiding frequent industrial actions despite the nation’s economic challenges. She described their conduct as a reflection of the core labour principle of dignity in work.
While applauding their efforts, Mrs. Akande encouraged workers not to relent but to continue upholding values such as diligence, integrity, professionalism, and strong work ethics, which she said are essential for national development.
Reaffirming the agency’s slogan, “Do the Right Thing: The Change Begins with Me,” she urged workers to remain responsible in their actions and avoid practices such as corruption and misuse of public resources, warning that such acts could tarnish the state’s image.
Mrs. Akande further commended Governor Makinde for providing an enabling environment that enhances workers’ productivity and motivation, noting that such leadership has helped to improve service delivery across the state.
She also appreciated the cooperation of ministries, departments, agencies, and local government authorities, describing their support as vital to the success of the NOA’s programmes.
Mrs. Akande concluded by wishing all workers a happy International Workers’ Day.
