The Oyo State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, has called on Nigerian youths to actively participate in nation-building and invest in the country’s future.

Speaking on the NTA network news programme “PANORAMA” on Friday, Dr. Afolayan emphasized the significant role young people play in projecting Nigeria positively on the global stage.

Dr. Afolayan rejected the negative stereotypes often associated with Nigerian youths, pointing out that many are excelling in various fields and bringing pride to the nation.

She acknowledged that while some youths may have been influenced by negative upbringing, a substantial number are shining examples of talent and achievement.

Drawing inspiration from Nigeria’s founding leaders, such as Sardauna, Azikiwe, and Awolowo, who were all young when they fought for the nation’s independence, Dr. Afolayan encouraged today’s youth to follow in their footsteps and contribute to the country’s progress.

She highlighted the efforts of the current administration in empowering youths through key appointments and initiatives like the NELFUND programme, designed to support and elevate young Nigerians.

Additionally, Dr. Afolayan stressed the importance of value re-orientation, a mission the NOA is committed to, in order to foster a generation of youths dedicated to national development.

In her appeal, Dr. Afolayan urged parents to instill strong family values and patriotism in their children, which are crucial for shaping future leaders who will contribute positively to Nigeria’s growth. She called on all youths to take pride in their country and actively invest in its development.
