Oyo WAI Brigade Command Revamped for Improved Services
The WAI Brigade, a paramilitary wing of the National Orientation Agency responsible for promoting orderliness, discipline, nationalism, and moral values among citizens, has undergone a transformation in the state, aimed at enhancing service delivery.
This development was announced during a retreat organized by Prince Adesola Ayodele Sanda, the Deputy State Director of the National Orientation Agency, responsible for local government operations and special duties.
Prince Sanda, who also serves as the State Coordinator of the Oyo State WAI Brigade Command, expressed his belief that the vision of producing exceptional officers would soon be realized through continuous training.
Prince Sanda emphasized that the repositioning would have a grassroots impact, as WAI Brigade officers are present in all 33 local government areas of the state.
He stressed that the recruitment process for new officers into the Brigade would undergo a significant change, ensuring that only educated and competent individuals are accepted.
During the retreat, Dr. Aremu Samuel Oyebisi, a guest speaker from the NSDC, encouraged the WAI officers to view the event as an opportunity to improve themselves.
He urged them to be more efficient in carrying out their primary responsibilities, which include intelligence gathering and maintaining discipline.
Dr. Oyebisi spoke on the importance of ethics and the culture of voluntary service within the organization.
The retreat was centered around the theme “Evaluating the Paramilitary Structure and Moral Values in Voluntary Organizations, with the WAI Brigade as a Case Study.” In a statement released by the media unit of the agency, Prince Sanda emphasized that the retreat would serve as an opportunity for interested secondary school students to join the WAI Brigade, thus expanding its membership.
The Acting State Commander of the WAI Brigade, Moshood Waheed, urged the officers to remain focused and utilize the knowledge gained from the training to enhance their performance.
