Oloye Jumoke Akinjide has expressed her deep sorrow following the passing of former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo, describing him as a polymath whose contributions to society were invaluable. In her tribute, Akinjide described Chief Olunloyo as a highly cerebral and principled man, whose advice and opinions had a lasting impact on her.
“Chief Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo was a highly cerebral and principled man whose opinions and advice were invaluable to me,” Akinjide wrote. “He had a high regard for my late father, and the respect was mutual. Losing him, albeit at a ripe age, is still a great loss to the nation.”
Akinjide praised Olunloyo’s legacy, acknowledging the significant impact he made as a statesman and former governor of Oyo State. “As a statesman and former governor of Oyo State, he has left a legacy too difficult to surpass. A world-class mathematician, consummate administrator, and an engineer of repute, he will be greatly missed. Chief Olunloyo was a rare gift to the world.”
She also extended her condolences to the people of Oyo State, particularly to the current Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde, as well as to Olunloyo’s widow, family members, and his numerous admirers. “I share this sad moment to condole with Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde, the good people of Oyo State, his widow, family members, and numerous admirers,” Akinjide wrote.
In conclusion, Akinjide prayed for the repose of Chief Olunloyo’s soul, saying, “May his soul rest in peace.”
