The State Security Services (DSS) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) have strengthened their partnership in order to combat crime, maintain public safety, and promote an ethical society.

According to a press release from the Media unit of the NOA, the decision to enhance efforts to reduce crime in the state was the result of a courtesy visit by the Director and management of the Oyo State NOA to the DSS office.

During the visit, the deputy director of the NOA command, Stephen .A Oyinlola, described the meeting as timely and important for establishing effective policy strategies between the two agencies.

Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, the Oyo State Director of the NOA, referred to the visit as a homecoming that would strengthen the partnership. She praised the DSS for their commendable role in reducing crime in Oyo state and emphasized the need for grassroots sensitization in order to prevent crimes. Since both agencies are community-based, their collaboration will facilitate informal exchange to effectively combat crime in the state.

Dr. Afolayan reiterated the agency’s goal of instilling national core values in all Nigerians, starting from a young age. To achieve this, Integrity clubs have been established in 67 secondary schools and universities in the state to educate young people about the importance of becoming virtuous citizens.

She also expressed concern about the increasing drug abuse among youths and sought collaboration with the DSS to find a lasting solution to the problem.

In response, John Macchim, the Oyo State Director of the DSS, acknowledged the strong relationship between the two agencies, particularly at the grassroots level. He welcomed the NOA team and pledged to support their bottom-up sensitization efforts to make a maximum impact. Macchim also promised to work harmoniously with the agency to end drug abuse in the state and eliminate crime entirely.

The visit was attended by other Deputy Directors, including Dr. Oluwole Faluyi, As Oyinlola, and P Elisha.

The NOA team, led by the Director, also included Prince Adesola Sanda, the Deputy Director in charge of local government operations and special services, Mr. O AKANBI, the Deputy Director in charge of administration, and Alhaji Isiaka-Adeniyi, the head of media and publicity. As a symbol of their commitment to nation building, the NOA team presented a National Flag to their host.

  1. The visit concluded with the recitation of national prayers and a vote of thanks by the Deputy Director in charge of DSS operational intelligence.
