Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has dissociated itself from a viral video showing some persons described as aides of the group, saying that if given AK-47 rifles, they would kill non-Muslims in Plateau and Enugu states.

The viral video, which emanated on Monday on the social media had generated condemnation across the country, with many call for the arrest of those in the video.

According to the group, it would not support any call to disturb the peace of Nigeria, noting that such comment is capable of inciting violence, adding that whoever does that in the name of the group does so at their own peril and will be accepted.

In a statement issued at the group’s headquarters by the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Sheikh Ahmad Muhammad Ashiru, the group said though it is yet to substantiate the authenticity of the video, it would not support any call to attack or kill any human being.

“JIBWIS, under the Leadership of Ash-Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, denounce call to violence under any guise especially now that households are trying to endure the pains of Insecurity in the form of Banditry, Kidnapping, Armed robbery , Bokko Haram in the North West, North Central, North East and other parts of the country, “ he said.

The group however, called on security agencies to as a matter of urgency and principle, investigate the video, and whoever found guilty should be dealt with appropriately, emphasizing that such comments do not represent Islamic teachings.

“We call on Security Agencies to carry out their duty with due diligence and bring culprit to Justice, “Ashiru said.
