The National Orientation Agency, under the leadership of Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, expresses profound sorrow over the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Mahood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the revered 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, the Oyo State Director, extends heartfelt condolences to Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan in Council, the Lekan Balogun family, and the people of Ibadanland on this solemn occasion of loss, as Oba Lekan Balogun peacefully transitioned to the realm of his ancestors on March 15th, 2024.

Highlighting Oba Lekan Balogun’s embodiment of the Yoruba Omoluabi ethos throughout his reign, the Director reflects on his accessibility to all subjects and his advocacy for harmonious coexistence among Ibadan’s diverse populace.

The Agency fondly recalls Oba Balogun’s gracious reception of Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu, the Director General, in February 2024, where they engaged in discussions on matters of national significance. Dr. Kemi Afolayan, the State Director, assures that NOA will uphold the late monarch’s wisdom and counsel in its mission to propel Nigeria towards greatness.

In remembrance, Oba Balogun is celebrated as a patriot dedicated to the peace and prosperity of Ibadanland and Nigeria at large. May the merciful Allah forgive his trespasses and grant him eternal rest in Aljanat Firdaus.
