Oyo State Government Pledges to Complete Challenge-Odo-Ona-Apata Road by December

The Oyo State Government has made a commitment to finish the construction of a 12.5-kilometer road in the Apata-Odo Ona-Challenge area by December 2023. This road project aims to improve movement and transportation in the area by addressing issues such as the median, walkway, streetlight, and asphalt coverage.

During an inspection of the ongoing projects in Ibadan, Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Professor Dahud Kehinde Sangodoyin, provided an update on the progress of the road construction. The inspection focused on the work completed since the last inspection in October 2023 and ensured that the contractor and engineers were on track to meet the quality standards and delivery timeline.

The commissioner stated that the contractor has done an impressive job so far. The Lay-by area has been constructed to accommodate commuters and maintain the vision for the road construction project. He urged road users to appreciate the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde, who has prioritized the speedy completion of the project. Once completed, the road will improve commuting between the Apata and Challenge areas, enhance property values, and alleviate traffic congestion.

The specific date for the commissioning of the road will be determined after the completion of all work. The commissioner also mentioned that the first lane of the Olodo First Lane Bridge along the Iwo-Road-Olodo-Odo-Oba road will be finished in five months to alleviate the challenges faced by motorists and road users. The construction of the bridge follows international standards and takes into account present and future flood occurrences.

The Commissioner assured everyone that the project is progressing steadily and urged patience as the government works towards a lasting solution to the flood problem. The consultant and project engineer also expressed confidence in meeting the specified timelines for completion.
