The 2003 set of Theatre Arts Department, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo on Thursday visited their alma mater to assess the state of the department and the college and also plan development projects that would ensure a conducive learning environment for it’s current students.

The old students led by the set President who was also the President, Association of Theatre Arts Students (ATAS) back then in 2003, Saheed Fawenda during a courtesy visit to the Provost of the college, Dr Ademola Salami said the aim of the visit was to congratulate the new management of the college and share their outlined plans to move it to greatness.

Fawenda stated that the set is back to the school to support the management.

Also, a member of the set who is also the Chairman, Nigeria Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ), Oyo State, Lekan Shobo Shobowale said the set with the support of the Provost and other members of staff will restore the positive image of the College.

He said: “It was a wonderful time stepping into the College once again. The nostalgic feeling was quite overwhelming. Let me assure you sir that we are here to bring back the old glory of our Alma Mata and for us as a product of Theatre Arts Department, we will also work with our new Head of Department, Mr Tunji Aikomo under whose invitation we are here to mentor current students in the department of Theatre Arts.”

In his remark, the Provost of the College, Dr Ademola Salami commended the great vision of the set and ready to partner and support them in all their activities.

He emphasised on the need for other sets and the National body of the College old students to take a cue from what the set has done.

Dr Ademola Salami added that, He, as the President, University of Jos Old Students Association, he appreciated the coming together of the old students to support their old College.

Also, the Deputy Provost of the College, Dr Benedict Adebyi, the Dean, Faculty of Social Science, Dr Adenike Adegbite, the HOD, History dept, Dr Amos Omonigbo all commended the strong character of the 2003 Theatre Arts Set adding that, it is the first time such will be happening in the College.

Earlier, the Head of Department, Theatre Arts Department, Mr Tunji Aikomo stated that it remains a thing of Joy for him that such historic home coming it’s happening this time.

Aikomo described the set as one of the best the department has produced since it’s creation many years ago.

The old students also had a brief interaction with other lecturers in the department which included Mr Ibrahim Auta and Dr Afolabi both former HOD”s in the department.

Other members of the set during the visit included Dare Oduselu who the Treasurer, Student Union Government of the Set, Gbenga Sunday, who was then the Director of Protocol, Students Representative Council of the set, Rotimi Adeleke and Arisekola Adedeji.

The team also had Kola Oladapo popularly called Mr Nice Guy of Lagelu FM and Mr Tunde Oladimeji of Aranbara fame.
